Three Decades of Finding the Part Nobody Else Could

Direct Equipment Parts is a non O.E.M. heavy equipment parts supplier in Clinton, New Jersey. We have been sourcing construction equipment parts — including the ones the dealer no longer supports — since 1994.

Founded in 1994. Still Answering the Phone.

DEP started in 1994 as a small New Jersey operation with a simple premise: contractors lose more money waiting for parts than they ever save buying the cheapest one. Three decades later the premise has not changed, and neither has the scale. We are deliberately a family sized business — small enough that the person who takes your call is the person who works your search.

What has grown is the network. Every year in this trade adds suppliers, salvage yards, rebuilders and machine shops to the list of people who will pick up when we call. That list is the actual product. Anyone can look up a part number; the value is knowing who has the thing when the catalog says it no longer exists.

We are not a dealership and we are not an e commerce warehouse. We are the people you call when both of those have run out of answers.

What "Non O.E.M." Actually Means

O.E.M. means the part came through the manufacturer's supply chain. Non O.E.M. means it did not. It is a purchasing channel, not a quality grade — the bearing in an aftermarket box is often made in the same plant, to the same drawing. Where it genuinely differs is cost and availability, and both usually run in your favor:

Cost

Aftermarket construction parts routinely land well under dealer list for equivalent hardware — which matters most on the wear items you replace repeatedly.

Availability

When a factory backorder is measured in weeks, an aftermarket or good used part that ships today is not the lesser option. It is the only option that keeps the machine earning.

Longevity

Once a machine leaves the support window, non O.E.M. is the entire market. Used, refurbished and custom built components are what keep 25 year old iron on the job.

We will also tell you when O.E.M. is the right call. There are assemblies where the tolerance, the warranty, or the failure consequence justifies the premium, and pretending otherwise would cost you more than it saves. The full comparison is here.

The Consultant

John Dressendofer

John founded Direct Equipment Parts in 1994 and still answers the phone. Thirty plus years built the network: salvage yards, rebuilders, dead stock, and machinists who can make a legacy part.

He has been in equipment parts since 1983: a New Jersey dealer first, then in-house for one of the region’s largest contractors, where he learned to turn a “can’t do” into a Can-Do.

The Parts Wrangler

Gerard Yarka

Gerard brings a product manager’s eye to asset and inventory management, with equipment industry years at Komatsu America Industries behind him. His approach is hands on: simplify the process, then make it perform.

He is also the person who connects you with whoever can actually solve the problem, working easily across departments and management levels. Inventory discipline, practical problem solving and the relationships to back both up: that is what keeps parts moving, customers satisfied and the business growing.

The Network

A dealer can sell you what is in the system. When a machine ages out of support, the system stops returning results — that is where most parts searches stall, and where ours starts.

Thirty years buys relationships with the people who hold the inventory nobody catalogs: salvage yards parting out machines, rebuilders with cores on the shelf, distributors with dead stock, machinists who can make a legacy part from a sample. One obsolete search might touch a dozen of them in an afternoon. You place one call; we make the other twelve.

Salvage & used inventory

Parted out machines are where discontinued castings and housings actually live.

Rebuilders & cores

Final drives, pumps and long blocks returned to spec, with a core exchange where it helps.

Machine shops

When nothing exists to buy, a legacy part gets made or adapted from the failed one.

The Parts We Keep Close

Some parts cost you an afternoon. These ones cost you the week. So they stay at the front of our minds — lined up with more than one supplier each, so nobody’s backorder becomes your problem, and the part goes out the door quickly. Here is what to watch, machine by machine.

Excavators

The excavator parts that strand a machine where it stands: hose and fitting sets in the sizes you run, hydraulic and engine filters, fuel filters, belts, bucket teeth, track pads, seal kits for the cylinders.

Why: a burst hose stops the machine where it stands, and teeth and pads wear out on their own schedule whether you are ready or not.

Backhoes

Pins and bushings for the hoe linkage, teeth for both buckets, hoses and fittings, stabilizer pads, the full filter set, belts, cylinder seal kits.

Why: the hoe end wears its pins out faster than anything else in the yard, and a backhoe is usually the one machine doing six different jobs in a day.

Dozers

Track shoes, sprockets, idlers, roller seals, cutting edges and end bits, hoses, filters, ripper tips.

Why: the undercarriage eats about half of what a dozer costs you to run, and a worn sprocket against a fresh shoe chews through both.

Paving Equipment

Conveyor chain and auger flights, screed plates and wear shoes, spray bars and nozzles, drum scrapers, hoses and filters, vibrator bearings.

Why: a crew cannot stop halfway down a mat, and a blocked spray bar or a worn screed plate shows up in the finished surface for good.

Dump Trucks

Hoist cylinder seals, articulation hitch pins and bearings, suspension struts, bed wear liners, wet brake discs, hydraulic and transmission filters.

Why: one hauler down backs the whole dig up behind it, and hitch and suspension parts for these are rarely sitting on a shelf nearby.

Out-of-Service Equipment

Old part numbers and whatever replaced them, good used and rebuilt units, and the measurements that prove a swap will actually fit.

Why: a part being discontinued does not mean your machine is, and working out what will fit instead is the bit we enjoy most.
